Fluid bed dryer from GEA Niro
Fluid bed dryers for the Food & Dairy industry are suited for wet powders and agglomerates with an average mean particle/agglomerate size between 50 microns and 2 mm. In our design and construction, we pay extra attention to a hygienic design with no hollow spaces. All our units are approved by the 3A and IDF sanitary standard and can be delivered with integrated CIP cleaning circuits.
What does GEA Niro offer?
GEA Niro offers two types of basic fluid bed models, the back mix and plug flow fluid bed, either individually designed for the solids flow pattern in the spray dryer, but also as standalone units or combined to form specialty spray dryers.
All flowsheets are available for download in the Animation Download area.
- The integrated back mix fluid bed for improving thermal efficiency in spray dryers
- The VIBRO-FLUIDIZER™ for after drying and/or cooling. It is typically used in connection with spray dryers
- The TIXOTHERM™ plant incorporates both a back mix and a plug flow fluid bed for the drying of whey and permeate.
The back mix fluid bed is typically used as an after dryer in integrated fluid bed dryers such as the Multi-Stage Dryer MSD™, Fluidized Spray Dryer FSD™, Integrated Filter Dryer IFD™ or COMPACT DRYER™. However, it is also used in specially designed dryers such as the lactose dryer. The back mix fluid bed is typically followed by a plug-flow fluid bed for final drying/cooling.
The plug flow fluid bed or VIBRO-FLUIDIZER™ is successfully used on all types of powders and agglomerates, especially those with a broad particle size distribution or highly irregular shape or which require relatively low fluidization velocities to prevent attrition. The VIBRO-FLUIDIZER™ is typically used as an after dryer/cooler in Multi Stage Dryer MSD™, Fluidized Spray Dryer FSD™ and rewet agglomeration plants or directly connected to conventional spray dryers or a TALL FORM DRYER™.
The VIBRO-FLUIDIZER™ can be operated as a separate drying or cooling unit. It is often associated with a spray drying system to produce agglomerated instant powder or act as a powder conditioning plant for special coating operations.
