GEA Niro agglomeration plants are used as a benchmark in the chemical industry because of the superior product quality that can be produced on a GEA Niro plant.

Agglomeration is making single particles adhere in a controlled way to form an agglomerate with the right particle size, particle size distribution and bulk density. It is applied to ensure quick dispersion and dissolution, improve flowability and reduce dust problems during powder handling.

Single step agglomeration

Two step agglomeration
In the two step agglomeration process, the basis material is a spray dried or fluid bed dried powder, on to which a liquid is sprayed to make the particles sticky so that they will agglomerate. In the chemical industry, two step agglomeration is carried out in a High Shear Continuous Granulator HEC™ where a fine and light dusty powder is converted into a high density free flowing granular powder, or- all depending on product composition and requirement to the agglomerate size - in the more simple Fluid Bed Granulator.

The GEA Niro FSD-GRANULATOR™ combines the two types of agglomeration. Here, liquid is sprayed on to the fluidized powder layer in the spray dryer's integrated fluid bed to enhance the agglomeration even further.

All GEA Niro agglomeration plants can be delivered with an integrated manual or automatic CIP Cleaning in Place.
