The atomizer drive*
The atomizer drive consists of two parts. The top part includes the motor and its support, both protected by a stainless steel cover with air cooling vents. The motor is a 2-pole, high frequency, high speed, vertical flange type. The lower part comprises the support for the guide bearing, feed pipe assembly and liquid distributor, all enclosed by a conical skirt. The spindle design is based on the flexible spindle concept, so that fluctuations in feed rate and other imbalance are compensated during atomizer opreration, thus preventing spindle and bearing damage. The bearings are of the grease-lubricated, single row, radial, high speed type design to prevent any product contamination by lubricants.
The atomizer is supplied with the following operating and safety instruments:
- Tachometer to indicate spindle speed
- Ammeter to indicate performance
- Running hour-meter to indicate total hours of operation
- Motor tempearture alarm to protect against overheating of the motor
- Spindle vibration alarm to protect against excessive vibration conditions (optional)
All parts in contact with feed comply to 3A and similar national sanitary directives.
The atomizer wheel
The FS1 is supplied with various designs of atomizer wheels. Selection depends upon the abrasive characteristics of the feed. A 24 straight vane wheel handles non-abrasive feeds. Bushing and pin wheels handle abrasive feeds where all parts in contact with feed are constructed of wear resistant alumina or carbide material.
