Fluid Bed Dryer from Niro A/S
FLUID BED PROCESSING WITH FLUID BED FRYER
Fluid bed processing involves drying with a fluid bed dryer, agglomeration, granulation, and cooling of particulate materials. In fluid bed drying heat is supplied by air/gas through the product layer thereby removing moisture contents in the powder material. Alternatively heating panels or tubes immensed in the fluidized powder layer can act as additional drying source.

Pressurized Steam Fluid Bed Dryer - PSFB - A totally closed drying system.
The Niro pressurized steam fluid bed dryer (patented) represents the most cost-effective and environmentally friendly system for handling the vast quantities of moist, fibrous materials produced in brewing, food and sugar processing.
Other succesful applications include the drying of wood based bio-fuels. Use of pre-dried fuel significantly improves boiler efficiencies.
SOME APPLICATIONS:
- Co-products from starch production
- Distiller's dried grain and substrate
- Wood based bio-fuels
MAIN CHARACTERISTICS OF DRYING IN STEAM:
- A totally closed drying system. No air pollution. No vapour, dust or odour.
- Recovery of energy. More than 90% of the energy used in drying the product is recovered as 2-4 bar steam
- Improved product. No product oxidation. No flue gas contamination
- No product losses
REFERENCES:
Although this is a relatively new technology, Niro has installed several commercially sized steam fluid bed dryers processing sugar beet pulp, as well as wood based bio-fuels, and bio-sludge.
OPERATING MODE:
Superheated steam has long been recognized as a drying medium offering important advantages in terms of energy consumption, environmentally friendly processing and dried product quality for a range of selected materials. This potential has been fully utilized by the latest designs of Niro pressurized steam fluid bed dryers.
Moisture evaporated from the feed material forms the pressurized steam circulating within the dryer. Excess pressurized steam is continuously discharged for use elsewhere in the factory to obtain maximum heat recovery.
Niro A/S, Denmark, has entered into a licence agreement with BMA AG, Braunschweig, Germany who has been granted the exclusive right to sell and supply Niro's PSFB to manufacturers in the sugar industry world-wide. Details below.
