Our product range includes:

  • Spray dryers and spray coolers
    GEA Niro spray drying and cooling systems are for production of polymers based on emulsions and/or solutions. A wide range of polymers and resins are produced on GEA Niro spray dryers including e-PVC, EVA, PVAc UF, MF, PE Wax, PF, PMMA, PVP, paraformaldehyde, etc.

  • Fluid bed dryers and coolers
    The GEA Niro CONTACT FLUIDIZER™ is superior for drying of wet powders and filter cakes. The following group of polymers and resins can be handled on GEA Niro fluid bed dryers and coolers: s-PVC, c-PVC, ABS, MBS, HDPE, POM, CTA, PTA, etc.

  • Flash Dryers
    The GEA Niro flash dryer is often followed by a fluid bed dryer or occasionally a CYCLONE FLUIDIZER™. Typical polymers for flash drying are s-PVC and MBS.
    All plants can be designed in open or closed mode to process water wet or solvent wet polymers and resins.

GEA Process Engineering is able to meet the strictest requirements to efficiency, safety and environmental compliance. Since many polymers and resins include hazardous ingredients, all GEA Niro drying plants are designed to meet the strictest standards when it comes to explosion and emission control systems. Our vast experience within these areas is unequalled and also an invaluable aid when it comes to complying with international safety directives like ATEX, other European safety directives and/or local regulations.

GEA Process Engineering offers:

  • Plants with highly effective filters and scrubbers to ensure exhaust of clean process air
  • Semi closed plants utilising low oxygen combustion gas as process air to prevent explosions

Cleaning-in-place (CIP) systems, semi- or fully automatic, are available for all GEA Niro plants. Efficient cleaning allows for more uptime and makes colour interchangeability easy and efficient.

Examples of drying solutions for polymers and resins
A wide range of polymers and resins are dried using GEA Niro drying technology. The right solution depends on the feedstock and the powder properties in demand.

One example is HDPE: A great deal of worldwide HDPE polymers is dried using our GEA Niro CONTACT FLUIDIZER™. We are able to supply fluid bed dryers capable of processing up to 55 tonnes per hour. It is superior for production of high quality polymers. One reason being that no horizontal hot surfaces on which product could rest are present in the plant, thereby avoiding material damage to the product.

Another example is E-PVC: For e-PVC, we offer spray dryers, and even very big ones. Today, GEA Niro spray dryers are delivered with capacities of more than 5 tonnes per hour.
