GEA Niro has developed the PHARMASD™ (PSD) series of spray dryers to meet the exacting standards of the pharmaceutical industry. This unmatched range of dryers is built on a modular design that allows components to be integrated to meet the requirements of individual projects.
A combination of standardised modules can be tailored to fulfil a specific duty, which enables truly customised solutions based on proven systems.
As a result, PSD dryers of equal capacity may be completely different with respect to design, configuration and physical size. GEA Niro designs each module, indeed each system component, to meet the strictest industry requirements and regulatory standards in markets worldwide.
Spray drying organic solvents
The use of solvents when preparing pharmaceutical ingredients poses a
challenge in the drying process and has resulted in the use of nitrogen as a drying gas. Our spray dryers are configured for drying of compounds that
are based on acetone, methylene chloride, ethanol and other organic solvents.
The drying parameters and capacity cay greatly, depending on the solvent used. the PSD range of pharmaceutical dryers extend from the PSD-1 to the PSD-7 with evaportation capacities as found below.
