| Achema 2006 will take place at the exhibition grounds of Messe
Frankfurt GmbH in Frankfurt am Main. The exhibition, which will begin on May
15th, 2006 and end on May 19th, 2006, is the world forum for the chemical and
pharmaceutical Process Industry. In 2003 Achema drew 4000 exhibitors from 50
countries, and 200,000 visitors from 100 countries. |

NIRO AT ACHEMA 2006
The Process Engineering Division
will be well-represented at this year’s Achema exhibition. Among the
participants will be Niro, GEA Wiegand, GEA Jet Pumps, GEA Filtration, GEA
Messo, GEA Kestner, Barr-Rosin, Niro PT, and GEA Diessel. Niro Pharma Systems
will be presented by the following companies, Niro Pharma Division,
Aeromatic-Fielder, Buck Systems UK, Collette, Courtoy, and GEA Buck
Valve.
The joint GEA stand will be located at Hall 4.0 stand D13-G22.
Niro will have more than 60 representatives at the stand during the exhibition
days. The Niro Pharma Dvision has their focus on spray drying of Pharma
products including aseptic processing, while the Niro Chemical Division will
focus on spray drying, fluid bed drying, granulation and
agglomeration.
The Achema exhibition is considered the worldwide
platform for the Process Industry and therefore of high importance to Niro.
Among the 200,000 visitors to the exhibition in 2003 were approximately 40,000
decision-makers, which underline the significant value of this exhibition. Niro
is well aware of the importance of the participation, as it provides a great
opportunity to display and spark an interest in the Niro
equipment.
EQUIPMENT AT ACHEMA 2006
Niro will
exhibit the equipment briefly introduced below. Further information can be
found in our brochure section.
Niro Pharma Division
Equipment at Achema 2006
MOBILE MINOR™
In the MOBILE MINOR™, small quantities of solutions, suspensions, and
emulsions can be dried into representative powder samples. Test results from
the MOBILE MINOR™ provide important information for selecting the design and
technical specification of a given drying project. Three alternative atomizing
systems are available for the MOBILE MINOR™ spray dryer: Rotary atomizer,
Co-current two-fluid nozzle, and Fountain two-fluid nozzle.
Further
information can be found in the MOBILE MINOR™ Spray Dryer brochure.
ASEPTICSD™ spray dryer size ASD MICRO in Isolator
Box
The ASD MICRO is the smallest Niro pharmaceutical spray dryer.
The ASD MICRO is specifically designed for aseptic processing of very small
volumes of active ingredients including products for injection. The drying gas
capacity is 30 kg/h.
Rotary Atomizer Type F1.5X
This
Niro designed Rotary Atomizer type is the first to adhere to cGMP requirements
for manufacturing of pharmaceutical products. The compact atomizer includes
several design features which makes operation efficient and include provision
for easy cleaning and hot gas sterilization.

Division Equipment at Achema 2006
IFD™ - Integrated
Filter Dryer
The IFD™ is used in the chemical industry for
manufacture of dustless agglomerated powders. The IFD™ has an improved flow and
dispersal properties compared to the predecessor FSD™. Furthermore the IFD™ has
improved sanitary design, CIP-ability and product
containment.
SWIRL FLUIDIZER™ 8.0
The SWIRL
FLUIDIZER™ is used for drying pastes, filter cakes and highly viscous liquids
and it is build on standardized designed modules, which are configured for
product-specific parameters. The SWIRL FLUIDIZER™ has either an Open cycle
system or a Closed cycle system. The Open cycle system uses atmospheric air to
dry applications without dust explosion threats. The Closed cycle system uses
nitrogen as drying gas for products that contain flammable solvents.
F1000 Atomizer
This Niro designed Rotary Atomizer
is the largest in the world and is almost exclusively used in the area of flue
gas desulphurisation. The reliable Niro atomizer design is unsurpassed and has
a proven track record from more than one hundred Spray Drying Absorptions
plants installed worldwide. The development of the F-1000 atomizer enables Niro
to design Spray Dryer Absorbers large enough to handle the flue gas from a 450
MWe coal fired power plant in a single absorber
module.
F15WD NARROWSPAN™ Atomizer
Until now,
powders with uniform-sized particles were achievable only in the large nozzle
towers. NARROWSPAN™, however, achieves this uniformity, creating a largely dust
free, easily wettable product with a high flowability, from a rotary atomizer
wheel. This reduces costs and allows the use of smaller buildings to
house the plant equipment. The NARROWSPAN™ is suitable for new-build projects,
or for retrofit to improve the efficiency of existing production plants.
IFD-GRANULATOR™ and FSD-GRANULATOR™ (patent pending)
