Worldwide leader in Powder Engineering
No one knows more about spray dryers and spray drying technology than GEA Niro. This experience has been gained over more than 75 years, where we have designed and supplied more than 10,000 powder plants for the Food & Dairy, Chemical and Ceramic, Polymer and Pharmaceutical industries. Further, we have supplied numerous small scale and pilot plants for universities, product research, and developing centers. We supply complete process lines with related process equipment for the Food & Dairy industry.

We work globally, but we believe that the daily contact and service is a local business. With GEA Niro, you never have to go far for assistance or overcome time or language barriers - we are where you are. Not just by a representative, but with our own staff, stocks of spare parts, service engineers and training specialists.

We supply you with complete solutions: the engineering and technology behind it, to become your ideal partner supporting you during the project also including the start up of the plant. This ensures that the quality of the powder and the performance of the plant are in accordance with the contract. GEA Niro is recognized as the number one supplier in the world for freeze dryers for instant coffee powder. We also supply closed cycle spray dryers for hard metals and process lines for instant whole milk and baby food powder - just to mention a few. For more information, read all about the products we turn into powder.

In our test centers around the globe, we have 75 pilot plants where we can dry your product - be it an emulsion, a suspension or a solution – into a dry product using a spray dryer, fluid bed dryer, flash dryer or freeze dryer.

If your product is already in powder form and you want to change the particles into a granulated or agglomerated form, or you want to extract aromas or other valuable components, we have the expertise, technology and equipment to do that as well. If your product is heat sensitive or you want to retain valuable and volatile aromas, it should possibly be freeze dried.

Perhaps your product needs to be pre-concentrated before it is spray dried or freeze dried in order to improve the processing economy and final powder specifications. If so, our evaporator or membrane specialists have the right equipment necessary for the complete process line, which (apart from the dryer) can include raw material reception and pretreatment, powder handling and storage, as well as powder packing.

GEA Niro is recognized for their design, engineering and supply of:

Staying ahead of competition
In our test and research centers, our scientists and product technologists work day in and day out to improve already known processes and to develop new environmental-friendly techniques and to understand the spray drying process better. An example is illustrated in our DRYNETICS™ single particle drying simulator, where it is possible to study the behavior of a droplet of your product during drying. We can then establish drying parameters and scale up from drying of one single droplet to an industrial plant producing several tons of powder per hour.

We will comply with your specific requirements as to final residual moisture content, bulk density, particle size distribution or whichever requirements you have for your particular product including:
