GEA Niro will be participating at this year’s ACHEMA fair with other GEA Group companies serving the chemical and pharmaceutical industries

At the booth process engineers from GEA Niro will demonstrate how the new DRYNETICS™ concept makes it possible to model the spray drying process and optimize performance of the spray dryer based on an analysis of a single droplet of the material being dried. The DRYNETICS™ concept has already been applied to investigate new spray dryer designs as well as to improve existing plants.

DRYNETICS™ is a concept that engineers from GEA Niro have been working on for the past three years. The DRYNETICS™ concept is ideal for making computer simulations to optimize and make better plants. Tests are run on a given feed, and a model of the drying process is made on basis of that. The model is put into the CFD simulations of full scale spray dryers, which makes the calculations very accurate. DRYNETICS™ combined with the know-how of GEA Niro’s engineers finds spray drying conditions and plant design for a customer’s product ensuring that an offered plant is optimized in respect to product quality and plant capacity. This saves the customer money.

The customers can also use the assembling to examine different products. If we change the content of the feed, we can tell our customers, which feed will be more suitable for spray drying. We can do this with very little amounts of feed, and a customer can then choose 2-3 feeds to be spray dried at our Test Station, whereas formerly he would have to test several kilos of each feed to find the best one.

GEA Niro will also be showing some of its small scale units at the booth; the lab scale spray dryer SDMICRO™ designed for the pharmaceutical industry and the more versatile MOBILE MINOR™ for R&D and small scale production.

Furthermore, we will present a number of our atomizers including one of the world’s largest atomizers the F800.

All week, the company’s process technologists and sales managers are available to discuss how GEA Niro’s range of drying systems can be applied for production of a wide range of chemical, pharmaceutical and food products.

GEA Niro is also available to discuss plant upgrades; whether the drying system needs an upgrade to boost capacity, reduce energy consumption or to meet new product specifications.
