The Spray Dryer Just Got Smaller
It’s smaller, quieter, uses less energy and produces better quality powder
than any previous spray dryer – it’s the Integrated Filter Dryer (IFD™) from
Niro, designed for the food and dairy industries and on show at ANUGA
2006.
The IFD™ simplifies spray drying by combining dryer, fluid bed and bag
filter all within the confines of the drying chamber. It produces
free-flowing powders, or agglomerated and granular dry materials of low dust
content, and is particularly effective for those products that are difficult to
produce on other spray dryers.
The IFD™ has air filters placed inside the drying chamber instead of
outside. Having the filters inside eliminates the need for external
cyclones, bag filters and fines recycling which in turn reduces the space
requirement, reduces noise and improved product containment. It also
incorporates a fluid bed within the spray dryer to allow users to achieve the
precise product properties required.
The IFD™ reduces product losses – particularly important for high value
powders - as all the product is retained within the dryer. It also makes
cleaning the dryer, using the SANICIP™ cleaning system, much easier. Most
importantly, it improves the quality of the product by enhancing the control
over particle formation inside the dryer.
Testing at Niro’s test station in Denmark, and many applications in the
field, have shown that the IFD™ is suitable for long-run batch production for
producing milk power or baby food.
