GEA Niro's SDMICRO™ spray
dryer is used by pharmaceutical and chemical companies to evaluate
various stages of their processes during the early stages of product
development. Companies can identify the most appropriate technique for the
product and guarantee the most efficient manufacturing process.
Features:
- Designed for research and development
- Ideal for low volumes of high-value formulations
- Designed for organic solvent or water based formulations
- Uses of inert process gas or compressed air as the drying medium
- Easy to dismantle for cleaning and fast product switch
- Compact dimensions.
Mode of operation
The SDMICRO™ is a fully functional small-scale spray drying plant.
Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) have been used to design the smallest
possible spray
drying chamber which retains the same air flow pattern as a full scale
production model. The resulting equipment can make test volumes of product at
the smallest possible scale (100-200 ml).
The intrinsically safe operation makes the SDMICRO™ suitable for use with
nitrogen for products dissolved in organic solvents - compressed air being used
for the drying of aqueous fluids.
The cyclone is used for the initial powder collection and the bag filter
collects fine particles passing through the cyclone. The cyclone may be
by-passed completely, for collecting very fine powders in the bag filter.
