Milk is an opaque white liquid produced by female
mammals and it provides the primary source of nutrition for newborns, before
they are able to digest other types of food. Milk is an emulsion of butterfat
globules within a water/protein-based fluid.
Milk reception and
pre-treatment of milk
Projecting a milk powder
plant involves many unit operations, one of which is milk reception and
pre-treatment. When milk is received at the factory, the quality is tested
before it is sent to the storage tanks. Pre-treatment typically involves
pasteurization, separation of fat for standardization, and then cooling before
further storage and/or processing
Who supplies the equipment?
When the GEA Group supplies complete
milk powder
factories, milk reception and pre-treatment is typically designed,
engineered, and supplied by
GEA Liquid Processing or
GEA TDS GmbH,
who work together with GEA Niro and the local based GEA company for the
installation and integration with the remaining part of the factory.
